Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who moved to Georgia in 2021 and started a virtual ministry after being released early from federal prison, says he's seriously thinking of moving back to Michigan.

“Detroit is home, my home, and my wife’s home,” Kilpatrick tells Charlie LeDuff of the "No Bullshit News Hour." “Maybe we’ll be back in early spring when I’m released from federal supervision. We’re definitely thinking about it. But can you do me a favor? Don’t tell people where we’re looking.”

He tells LeDuff he’s planning to rent.

A "G-man" tells LeDuff Kilpatrick has been house hunting in a posh surburb and put down a deposit on a $850,000 home.

“I think the guy still owes a million and a half dollars in restitution,” the G-Man laughed, according to LeDuff. “Internet preaching must pay pretty good.”

In 2021, Kilpatrick married Laticia Maria McGee, who has been part of the virtual ministry, Movemental Ministries.

Kilpatrick, now 53, was sentenced in 2013 to 28 years in prison for public corruption. In January 2021, in his final hours as president, Donald Trump commuted his sentence to time served.

In June 2021, he told Deadline Detroit he had no plans to return to politics.

"I know that's what I'm supposed to be doing," he said of his religious path.  "I can't imagine doing anything else for the rest of my life."
