A mother is suing the Detroit school system, alleging it took no action to protect her son Stanley at Martin Luther King Jr. High after nude bathroom photos and videos were posted on social media.
The Detroit News reports that Nita Garrett of Detroit said she was horrified when she found out from her grandson that someone had taken partially nude photos of her son Stanley going to the bathroom and shared them on social media. The photos included his buttocks, genitals and face.
One of the videos shows him standing at the urinal, pants down to mid-thigh and buttocks exposed, then shows his penis and face when he turns around, the News reports.
Stanley, who was 14 and 15 at the time and is now a 16-year-old junior at Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School, has non-verbal autism, the News writes.
The suit was filed last month in Wayne County Circuit Court.
The News reports that Detroit Public Schools Community District did not respond for comment, but said in a motion to dismiss that they were protected by governmental immunity.
