Fellow church members of Jennifer Harris, the McDonald's manager who was allegedly fatally stabbed Thursday by a co-worker, questioned on Sunday why the restaurant in Eastpointe was reopening so soon.

“We didn’t think they’d be open—and they shouldn’t be,” Pastor Gregory Kirby of Strictly God’s Business Ministries in St. Clair Shores told The Macomb Daily.

The publication reported that the restaurant's two drive-thru lanes on 9 Mile Road reopened on Sunday.

The restaurant had remained closed following the attack until Sunday. Owner Yusef Alcodray released a statement last week:

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident, and our hearts go out to the victim’s family and loved ones. Violence of any kind is unacceptable in my restaurants, and we are taking this matter extremely seriously, as the safety and well-being of our employees and customers is our top priority. We are fully cooperating with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation, and the restaurant will remain closed until further notice.”

McDonald's employee Afeni Muhammad, 26, was charged Friday in the fatal stabbing of Harris, 39, a single mother of six. Harris had sent Muhammad home early after an argument.
