Actor Jeff Daniels plans to open a restaurant in spring 2026, just blocks from his Purple Rose Theatre in downtown Chelsea.

"The design blends a dark, moody stage aesthetic with a light, airy bistro centered around a wood‑fired pizza oven and indoor–outdoor flow to the patio," his wesbsite says of the new venture. "Private event spaces, the vaulted Newsroom and the cozy Vinyl Lounge, create a one‑of‑a‑kind destination for dinner, drinks, and music."
Tannin Property Group, a small business in Chelsea since 2005, is working with Daniels, his son, Ben, and his wife, Amanda, on the project, according to Daniel's website.
"We’re building JD’s for Chelsea, by Chelsea," the website says. "Our goal is to give back with a world‑class venue that fuels local pride and economic vitality."
